The Yamnin Infantry Squad Volunteers Guardsman is the most basic infantry unit of the Yamnin Astra Militarum, stationed in large numbers to guard the colossal walls of Yamnin's only hive city. They are equipped with specialized Flak Armour that incorporates elements of Yamnin's culture, featuring a larger protective area and a heavier design compared to standard Flak Armour.
Equipment
In addition to their enhanced Flak Armour, each soldier wields a medium Combo Shield, similar to that used by the Adeptus Astartes. This medium Combo Shield includes a weakened version of a protective energy field, which, when combined with the Plasteel shield, enables them to withstand substantial small to medium-caliber fire. This defensive capability is a key reason for their exceptional survivability.
Firepower
For their primary weapon, they are armed with the tri-barrel specialized Accatran Mk VIIa Recon Lasgun. This weapon, improved by a mechanical cult that emerged after the Great Rift, boasts a design that features three barrels and a large ammunition magazine, allowing for a torrent of laser fire. Although its penetration power is limited, its extremely high rate of fire can inflict fatal damage on light to medium infantry, albeit with little accuracy, making it suitable only for suppression in close to mid-range situations. The sturdy gun barrel can be transformed into a war hammer in close combat, and it can also be fitted with the standard military knife of the Astra Militarum.
Additionally, they carry grenades, notably wearing one around their neck. In critical moments, they utilize these grenades for mutually assured destruction, embodying their sense of justice.
Tactical Limitations
While the Yamnin Infantry Squad enjoys superior defense similar to the forces of the Great Crusade period, their significant strength comes with drawbacks. They are utterly unsuited for mobile warfare. From the onset of their training, they have relied on the immense walls and fortified structures for defense. As long as they have cover and strong fortifications, the Yamnin Infantry Squad Volunteers Guardsman can stand toe-to-toe with forces from the 30K era. In defensive engagements, they are among the most formidable units in the 40K setting. However, once they leave their cover or fortifications, their extremely low mobility turns them into ineffective combatants.
