In the Machine Cult of Yamnin, the current supreme leader is Magos Artisan. As a star system sealed off from the Empyrean for ten thousand years, Yamnin has remained isolated beyond the borders of the Mars-based Machine Cult. Yet it still preserves many of the ways of thought from the 30K era. Most importantly, it is clear that they still firmly believe in “Imperial Truth.” Therefore, the Yamnin Machine Cult does not reject innovation—except for artificial intelligence—because it believes that innovation can be obtained by improving upon existing technologies and, on rare occasions, by salvaging the wreckage of Yamini borne out of the Empyrean storms, then refining those 40K-era technologies into something usable.
Magos Artisan and the current planetary governor met only briefly at first. Both were taken in as apprentices under the previous—late—greatest贤者 (Sage) of the Yamnin Machine Cult. The two are friends and, at the same time, healthy rivals. From childhood onward, they considered Yamnin’s future—specifically, how to protect Yamnin from both the Machine Cult and the perspectives of political scholarship. Nowadays, almost all of the armaments and equipment fielded by the Yamnin Astra Militarum (the Yamnin star-forces) are improved and developed under Magos Artisan’s and the governor’s joint leadership. Anchored by the Yamnin Wall, the Yamnin forces are equipped with a comprehensive suite of individual defensive capabilities and gear unmatched across the 40K setting. In a world of fortifications and urban warfare, the Yamnin forces have become the most formidable defensive troops.
Magos Artisan was a gifted prodigy even as a child, with an instinctive talent for technical improvement. And compared with most other Machine Cult “Sages,” he is more inclined to preserve humanity. He believes that humanity is the very root of innovation. To the mainstream of the Mars Machine Cult, this is nothing short of heresy—yet fortunately, as a sealed-off system, Yamnin is one that Mars has long since forgotten even before it was lost and cut off nearly ten thousand years ago… until the extremely massive Yamnin Campaign.
When he was young, he kept long hair—like a Yamnin man’s—though he had comparatively few augmentations. Among the Machine Cult, his mechanical modifications were relatively rare, and never extensive—until, after he was elevated to found the current leadership office of the Yamnin Machine Cult under the nomination of the planetary governor, one day his lower body began to transform into an armored, tank-tracked, nuclear-powered chassis (a painstaking refinement apparently based on a Kataphron Battle Servitor chassis). After a period, his back was upgraded into a half-dreadnought, half-automaton form—clearly through modifications made to a sealed, relic-grade Thanatar Calix Siege Automata.
From that point onward, he became a seamless unity of tracked chassis and armoured man-machine. His appearance and voice display are produced through the automaton’s viewing screens, communicating with others as if from a “body” that is now more display than flesh. There are rumors that his mortal body is already wet matter—optional, irrelevant. His awareness and soul have long since migrated into the machine. And he has no intention of explaining otherwise.
As a half-mechanized being and a master-grade Magos Artisan, he possesses extraordinary combat capability. This is the result of both vast storehouses of relic-grade sacred-artifice technology and the meticulous refinement of existing techniques brought to perfection. He is protected by multiple layers of powerful force-field shields. His finery includes a gold-plated, artificer-designed iron visage mask that doubles as a ring of Iron Light shielding. He wears gold-plated armor as well. Even his Machine Cult robes have weak ballistic resistance and strong protection against radiation. His chassis and armor are wrapped in many gold layers covering heavy ceramite-style armor plates for protection.
In terms of firepower, he can bring devastating force at both range and close quarters. Besides three Artificer Radium pistols for self-defense, his primary long-range weapons are the Artificer Radium Mortar-howitzers, capable of a single devastating strike that can cripple even a Stompa. On his shoulders he mounts an Artificer Micro-Stormstrike Missile Launcher, able to fire swarms of micro-missiles for saturating, all-angle coverage. At close range he wields an enormous Omnissiah Axe—strong enough to sever a Chaos Dreadnought’s waist in one blow. In his right hand he carries an Artificer Stake Driver.
In combination with a Necrons long Hyperphase spear he happened to discover by accident, he can not only perform standard attacks, but also unleash the long Hyperphase spear in an energized, burst-like strike after charging. As long as it hits any opponent, it delivers a one-shot kill. Even his power fists are Artificer Power Arms. In each palm he has a Three-Eyes Spe
